How regularly would you drink this smoothie? I need to banish hormonal breakouts!
Hi Sarah, I recommend drinking a green smoothie once a day. Use a variety of green vegetables so that you are not only having the same vegetables each day. I would also strongly recommend investigating the underlying cause of the hormonal breakouts so that you can balance your hormones – the green smoothie is a good place to start!
Let me know how you get on.
Would the smoothie replace any meals? When would you recommend to drink it?
You can have a smoothie for breakfast or a snack especially if you are adding in ground flaxseeds etc
Hi, I have been making green smoothies for my family each day for several months now. My ingredients are similar to yours. Kale, spinach, Spring greens, milled linseed (which I believe is the same as flax seeds) and apples. To make it taste sweeter I also add banana, and any other fruit which I have around, maybe melon or kiwi. After hearing about the goodness in raw olive oil I have also started to add that!
Today I have tried your recipe for Superfood Dettox green smoothie and I like it but I don’t think my husband and teenage children will want it because obviously it is less sweet.
Is it ok to be adding these other fruits or is it more healthy to be sticking just to the vegetables?
I am pleased to hear you are making smoothie regularly for the family!
Your choices of kale, spinach, spring greens & milled linseed sound great. I would recommend that you only use one type of fruit at a time like apple, pear or berries and that it is mainly vegetables. Maybe adding in a red pepper can help with the sweetness.
The best would be to progress to an all vegetable smoothie!
Let me know how you are getting on.
Hi Angelique. Would you always recommend fresh spinach, or is frozen spinach a suitable alternative for smoothies?
Yes, you can use frozen spinach. I often freeze spinach and kale when I have bought more than we can eat or drink to use in smoothies at a later date.
Hi Angelique, while watching the Sugar Free Farm I quite fancied trying the the vegetable green smoothie. Your recipe contains apples or mangoes, but on the programme they weren’t allowed fruit for the first week, should I follow the recipe and simply leave out the fruit or is there a different recipe ?
My smoothie recipe from the SFF is not up on my website yet but yes absolutely you can try this smoothie minus the fruit and with some additional carrot tops.
Let me know what you think!
Going to try your veg smoothie. Not sure I will get the rest of the family on board just yet so was wondering if the recipe as given will store or whether I would have to make fresh every day?
Good to hear you are going to try the smoothie!
Fresh is always best but yes, you can store the smoothie for a couple of days in a sealed bottle/container in the fridge.
Let me know what you think.
I am allergic to avocados, what can I replace it with.
You can leave it out or try half a banana, reduce the other fruit by half though. Let me know!
