Sniffle season is here – when the department store becomes an assault course of germs, and public transport leaves you like a sitting duck!
Don’t want to look like Rudolph under the mistletoe this year? Double your defences with these 5 wellness tricks…
Eat the rainbow
Eat your way to 10 a day for a barrage of protective antioxidants! Seasonal greats such as Brussels sprouts and pumpkin will see you towards plenty of immunity-strengthening zinc and vitamin C.
Soup it up
Fuel up on hydrating, hot soups – Bone broth and hearty chicken and veggie soups all deserve a place on your menu.
Stay hydrated
Sip those fluids to keep you well hydrated! Hot lemon water and steeped fresh ginger teas will soothe scratchy throats. Add a dash of raw manuka honey for some antibacterial benefit.
Move gently
Regular movement aids the respiratory tract and immune supportive. Already feeling run down? Keep things gentle. Please don’t over do exercise as your body needs to rest. Wrap up warm and take yourself on a daily walk if you can or stay in and have a good stretch.
Rest well
Run a bath, allow yourself a sofa session, and hit the pillow in good time. A healthy immune system relies on the chance to rest, heal and recover.
Bonus tip: remember to keep those hands clean, wash with soap and water (use an alcohol based hand sanitiser) and avoid touching your face; especially when you’re out and about!
